Help please.

HI all- I have a colt produced I believe in 1915. On left side of slide patent info and place of manufacture(Hartford) and between them is the rampant colt(?). Right side of slide..."Colt Auotmatic" then below that is "Calibre 45".
On frames right side "Government Model" and below that is the serial number C114143. I have'nt seen a pic of the rampant colt between the lettering on left side. I want to sell this gun but don't want to be taken by a dealer. I received this gun and don't really know much about them. If pic is needed I can send you one. TIA, Bill.

The GOVERNMENT MODEL and C prefix serial number identify your Colt as a commercial version of the 1911 style .45ACP pistol. Your pistol was shipped from Colt in the 1919 or 1920 time frame. If I am following your description correctly, the left side slide marking is of the 1919 style.
