Reloading component prices

At a recent gun show we noticed vendors selling items such as 4lb kegs of Winchester 231 for $38.00. It was obvious that the kegs are of fairly recent production. We were surprised as thats the best price I've seen on 231 since the early 1990's. We also see prices down on Winchester primers to $62.50/5000 for WSP and $65.00/5000 for WLP. At first I thought this might be somesort of "factory second" situation but we haven't had the slightest problem with any of it.

Anyone else seen any meaningful price changes on components of any brand?

No I hav'nt been to a gun show in almost a year :(
But this weekend I hope to go to Kankakee gun show and look around.Need afew things ?

That is a good deal on the 231. I just bought 8# and paid $98. I guess I need to go to more gun shows. :)

I hope I'm wrong, but to the best of my knowledge WW 231 comes in 1lb, 3lb, and 8lb containers. I have never seen a 4lb container. Still, $38.00 for three pounds is a good deal. I just paid $300 for three 8lb kegs.

Your right about 231 coming in three pounders in the past I remember the short cans with the white and green label but they seemed to have changed packaging. These are the new black plastic bottle with the blue label. Powder Valley has them also, "WIN231-04" for $47.95 before shipping and handling.

You are right. I have been buying 231 in 8lb kegs for so long that I failed to notice the 4lb containers. I just checked my reloading bench and the three pound keg that a friend gave me turned out to be four pounds.

There is a shop in NH which sells 231 in 8lb kegs for $100. I'll post the name as soon as I can find it.
