This pistol was issued in 1946 by the Naval Gun Factory in D.C. to a LtJg. who was a courier for Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll. Operation Crossroads was the first nuclear test after the war, which consisted of two detonations, Shot Able and Shot Baker. I have the original documents and all the equipment that came with it...

Unnecessary comment. We (not even for a moment) never thought that you didn't have them. :D :)
But John, your standards are falling, I see an idiot scratch on this one! LORL

Only one small problem, that is NOT the Bikini RR. I dug out the document and discovered the error. So HERE is the correct RR.
They say that the first thing to go is the memory, however that is not true. Its actually the SECOND thing!!!! ;)

Another very nice pistol (actually, very nice TWO pistols). Since we can't own them, thanks for letting us enjoy a vicarious thrill. Keep those pictures coming.

That is a very nice firearm and is just like the first 1911 I ever fired, a gentleman I met in Colorado thru my mother, let me fire his, I sure wish I had traded him out of it then I'd have one.
