Could one of you nice people tell me where to get started in a legitimate puchase of an original R&R 1911? I just got my C&R and would very much like to start collecting. Thanks for any info Gary

There are many places to look, such as Phila. Gun Sales, Simpson Ltd., Gunsamerica, Auction Arms, Gunbroker, etc. The key to a successful purchase is to arm your self with knowledge. Examine known true and original pistols, view details and learn as much as you can about production variations and original finish. If you haven't done so, look over www.coolgunsite.com, and consider purchasing Charles Clawson's book "Collector's guide to .45 service pistols". Good luck in your endeavors.

Say no more. You have just gotten the best advise there is to get. Invest in knowledge, before you invest in guns. Been there, done that. Its painful.

I don't mind (too much) showing my ignorance. What's an "R&R" 1911? When I was in the Army, "R&R" stood for "Rest and Recreation." In the auto repair business, it stands for "Remove and Replace."
