Now that I know what to call those little "punch marks"...
Here's a close-up pic of Rockwell hardness "punch marks" on an Ithaca,
s/n 2,092,524 (shipped Nov. 17, 1944 Oakland Naval Supply Depot).
It looks like the "forward" punch mark is under the finish??
And the other two, on top ?
