Today I got a Remington Rand, SN 2002899. It says on the box Pistol, Automatic, Cal .45 M1911A1. It has been shot very little. Both magazines are with it as well as the box and the wax paper it was wrapped in. No rust or blemishes on the finish. How do I figure out what this is worth? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

The box sounds like a repro/fake which is made from a $3 storage box with an ink stamp. The pistol will have to stand on it's own merits if the box isn't real.

Hey, congratulations on your Remington!

I believe from the serial number it should be a late 1944 vintage.

If you've got some pictures to post, there's a bunch of knowledgeable folks on the forum here that can help you out.

I will be home again this weekend and will try to get the pictures posted so you can see the pistol and box.
