I was searching around looking for an EAA witness in . 45 acp b/c I have a BAby Eagle (compact version of the Witness) that uses the same magazines. And the EAA Witness line has .22 and other slide conversions. Well they also have a 1911 version: http://www.eaacorp.com/parts-hand-gun-conversion-kits.html has anyone tried one of these? I would love to get one for my RIA, but then I would have to postpone the Witness purchase.

Those are just the parts where would you order the actual kit?

I don't know, I just figured that out just now too, it seems confusing as it states slide, not avail, sold with kit; but it doesn't list the .22 1911 kit anywhere, only the Witness frame conversions.. ! I will email them and see if they reply, I have heard they are not good at emailing responses back, I will try to call on Mon. if I get a chance. Also I am not at all familiar with .22 conversion designs, can anyone tell from the pretty good break down photo of the type of conversion this is? I.E. compared to other brands, what brand is it similiar too?

I have one for the past couple of years. It functions well on all 1911 frames I have tried it on. If I remember right I paid $175.00 with one mag. I wished I would have bought a .22 revolver instead. It seems I never have the right top end on when I need it. My .02 cents

i have their 45/22 combo kit and its works great. i also bought their 22lr conversion kit for the PO/wide body, but dont have ane NON LDA wide body to try on. but i will say that the finish is the same as their black guns.

if you emailed them, it may take a week to get back to you since that has been my experience.

if youre looking for the complete kit, i think you will need to look at the "accessories" page.

Well I ordered the kit w/ the adjustable sights and an extra (plastic) magazine. It was easy enough to do it online, got it in less than a week. But it doesn't fit right on my RIA 1911a1. It is pretty heavy I am not sure if it is aluminum or not, it is made in Italy (Tanfoglio), it has really nice LPA adjustable sights and even came w/ to extra guide rod springs, it has a rough/matte black finish. I bought and returned an Advantage Arms a while back to MidwayUSA b/c of the same thing, it is really hard to get the slide stop pin in. I put the barrel on w/o the conversion slide and it fits fine, the pin slides through, it has something to do w/ the fit w/ the slide (complete) I don't want to start filing on anything w/o some feedback from EAA. When I do get the thing on the other problem is the slide does not close completely and I cannot get my thumb safety up so it will not function at all. Anyone have any problems w/ theirs, I wonder if it is my RIA frame since it is the same one the AA didn't fit.

Well I sent the first kit back because I cannot get a refund, their policy is they will replace or repair the kit, so they just sent me another kit back, even after I wrote a note describing what was going on, I guess their gunsmith didn't read it or want to work on the barrel. The problem is the same with the new kit, I may be putting this thing up for sale here soon if it doesn't fit and work on my friends S.A., or I will contact Ivan at Armsocr in NV to see if he can help me w/ some fitting. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P8190164.jpg This is the second kit (I just got it the other day, I am out some shipping to send that first one back but they sent this one on their dime, and priority mail). I got it to fit by filing away the block on the barrel on the breech end of the slide stop hole. When fitting the barrel w/ the slide it is a tight fit. It feeds and ejects okay but the frame thumb safety will not funtion because the slide does not go forward enough, the safety will NOT engage. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P8190168.jpg I think the fix for this is to file alway around the ramp at the breechhttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P8190176.jpg, but I am not positive that this will fix that and then cause some other problems. It will actually fire and function and print a pretty decent group, I just really do not like the fact that that there is no functioning safety. One magazine works better than the other. Here is a blurry picture of the sights http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P8190171.jpg

Weird, I put this thing on my first RIA frame and it workedhttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P8240180.jpg, by the way I got this second coversion slide sent to me as replacement since the gunsmith didn't do any repair. Well I actually spoke too soon, it works about half the time, I still have to tinker w/ it some more, if you massage some silicone spray in the magazine it works better, one magazine can only hold nine rounds and the other one's last round won't chamber, kinda weird. I think I am going to mess w/ the firing pin, trying to change the shape to see if it will ignite the "other half". If there was a way to lengthen it I would do that. I may just buy another firing pin to see if it works better, but I like to tinker, it would be a miracle if I could get it to work reliably. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P8240185.jpg Even polishing the ramp only seemed to help a little http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P8240182.jpg
