Ok, it was a very hot day today in Missouri. Did I say hot? Very humid and in the upper 90's but I managed to get out and give my Commander it's first firing and function test and it passed with flying colors. Here is the picture of a 25 yard hand held shooting with 185 grain SWC. I will have to shave down the front sight a bit to bring it up on target. Now it was so hot that I was having sweat running down my face but sometimes a person has to endure the weather to see how their baby shoots!

Nice shooting. Everything looks dead center, just bring them up a bit. Nice Colt too. Thanks for the range report.
Nice Commander and good group!

I noticed one thing while shooting the gun, the front sight drifted to the left causing the shots to be on the right. The roll pin that holds the front sight in place is not there so I will have to install one and make sure that it is dead center. I will be taking .010 at a time off of the front sight till it shoots dead on. Means taking my file out to the range with me but that is what happens when ya buy a used slide and fit it to a new frame.

Good shooting...nice gun, too! Be glad you're not here in Central Texas this week--temps have been over 100 for several days (105 per the car thermometer a little while ago) plus we have ugly humidity. I know it's not as bad as some places, but the older I get the less I can tolerate it. Have you tried a sweatband? Not pretty, but it works. Hard to line up the sights with sweat pouring down your face! Thankfully, I have a couple of indoor ranges (I'm a wimp) close by!

I will agree that is a nice looking Commander and it looks like she works pretty good too.

I all ways liked the Commander. Back in the Day of the 70,s we kept a Commander .45 Satin Nickel at the nite club for bank drops after we closed the club to take to the bank at 3:00am. We went out the back into the ally by the dumpster to get to the car with the money bag. Two clowns with knives said hand over the bag and my boss said nice toys and drew the 45 and and shot a empty beer can accross the ally . The two clowns ran and never stopped. A crime that never happened or was reported and all was well. I really like the classic satin nickel 45 of the 70,s. It saved us a knife fight in a alley.
