Picked up a 1963 Remington Rand Nationa match. Had HS barrel but not a National Match. Tracked down a used but in VG condition 1963 NM barrel. Had a gunsmith fit the barrel but having problems feeding. Has a ww2 parkerized (R) magazine but keeps failing to feed. Will feed intermitantly. Does it with all mags I have tried.
Thanks

Does the WW2 magazine also have a WW2 spring?

Failure to feed or failure to go to/return to battery? Need more information, please. Describe it in detail.

FAilure to return to battery seems to cover it. Even happens when I rack the slide for the 1st round. Submarine into the feed ramp is what it is doing. Sounds like the same problem on another thread.
Thanks

Failure to feed means that the round doesn't get into the chamber. A failure to go to/return to battery means that the round enters the chamber and stops the slide. I'll assume that your nose-divers don't get to the chamber.
Most likely cause is the magazine. Either the follower angle is incorrect, or the spring is weak...or both. Also could be damaged feed lips and/or incorrect
release timing.

Got to thinkin'...Lay the barrel in the frame with the slidestop pin through the frame and link. Push the barrel down and back as far as it will go. Does the bottom edge of the barrel ramp/throat sit flush with or overhang the top of the frame ramp? If it does either...there's your bug. It should sit slightly forward...about a 32nd inch is good. It can be a little more, but not less.
