45AutoPete,
Looks as if you did a very good job of installing your new beavertail. Don't forget to let us know how it shoots and functions after your range trip on Sunday.

Very nice, eventhough I don't like to modify Colts too much I am like John (el presidente), I like this combination...combat sights and beavertail G.S.
The fitting looks very well made, is it a drop in part? :)

How did it go?

The Brown Beavertails are not drop in fit. I had to reshape the ears on the rear part of the gun, reshape where the webbing of your hand fits up into the grip on the frame, reshape the top by the hammer, and then beadblast all areas that were reshaped. I had to pu the bevel back on the rear around the beavertail too. All this was done by hand and is a very tedious affair. By the way, one cannot make a mistake installing this grip because of one thing, cannot undo a flied down part of the gun!! I have installed many beavertails including Wilsons but I like the Brown because of the higher hand hold it gives you.

I really appreciate the compliments guys but ya gotta stop!! You are making me blush!! All kidding on the side, I have been gunsmithing for awhile and my forte always has been with the 45's, except for the ones made in the Phillipines, Brazil, etc. They are not American made 45's and most of them are too much trouble to even work on. Heck, those Llamas don't even have parts that can be interchanged. All work I do is by hand now, no milling machines or lathes but I did have those years back to do sights for slides and to turn barrels down.

Is It Drop-in Or Not?
No it is not drop in! If you look on the first page, fifth (5) post, 45autopete explains how he did everything by hand. :)
