I have got such good advice here, that I decided to ask your expertise again, in the new Officer's that I have just finished, I have a slight issue, the ejection of a round is good, however the feeding of a new round seems to submarine to the feedramp which is not allowing the shell to enter the chamber, when watchiing it try to chamber the slide pushes the shell, but it seems to nose dive instead of a slightly upward movement. Any Ideas?
Thanks

Check the tension of the extractor.........if it's too tight, it'll be hard for the round to slide up into it.
Check out the "tech" section for the proper way to adjust it.
Also, what kind of mags are you using?

well I am not sure it has anything to do with the extractor, since it does it on the first round, I am using Wilson Mags, I will try another couple of mags to see if it is mag related.

Since it happens on the first round, I'm assuming that it's happening during loading/reloading. Remove the extractor and see If it changes. If it does, it's the extractor. If it doesn't...time to start huntin'. Understand that it could be something besides the extractor, and the extractor just adds that little bit of resistance that stops it.

ramped barrel or non ramped barrel?
I've also heard that an 8 round magazine will not have the proper length of legs on the follower and will allow the follower to dip.
along with the extractor, try a different magazine.
My micro has a fully ramped barrel, and the ramp angle was way off causing the same problem on 1st and 2nd rounds out of the magazine.

1911Tuner & all thanks for the reply's, I did try 2 other mags loading/reloading, 1 other wilson and 1 kimber and both loaded the chamber just fine, looks like my favorite wilson mag needs rebuilt.
Tuner, just to make sure I did take the extractor out and no different on the possible worn out mag.

One thing that Wilsons generally dont do, is have any follower pitch. They have a skirt that encompasses the entire perimeter of the follwer, unlike most that just have one the rear of the follower........so they tens to be stable.
But, have seen a few cracked/broken followers that will pitch because the support of the skirt was gone.

Nose Dive is caused by the rounds not being supported in the magazine. This starts to happen after the 6th round is loaded. Load a magazine and see when this starts to happen. Feed ramp is most likely the issue to be looked at.

Good deal. That means that it's either a weak mag spring, or the follower angle isn't correct. Most of the time, it's the spring.
Leave the feed ramp alone. Best rule of thumb is not to cut, grind, file, lap, or polish
ANY-thing until you've ruled out all other avenues. Wish I knew who it was that started this thing about polishin' for any feed or return to battery issue. I'd knock him upside the head with a Dremel. :lh:
