I have a Colt 1911, s/n 1828xx. Everything seems original, except it has a "short' trigger.
Was this done by the army to "improve" the pistol, or by a later owner?
Thank you,
Jerry

If your Model 1911 is otherwise all original, I would suspect that the trigger was changed out after it left the military. Most of the Model 1911 pistols that went through rebuild had the long trigger put back in due to no finger cutouts in the frame for the shorter trigger. I would imagine that most collectors owning such a pistol would have no reservations about putting the correct style trigger back in the pistol.
