Defender ? field strip

put a deposit on a defender, waitin for my permits. I want to head to the shop this weekend and field strip and inspect ramp and frame. Are these set up with a barrel bushing and do they strip down like 5'' 1911 aka kimber etc. Is there a link somewhere with takedown procedures on the net. Ive been searching and haven t come up with anything. Thanks Mike

Defenders do not use a barrel bushing. Make sure the pistol is empty, remove magazine, pull slide halfway through and have the slide stop be in contact with the take down notch in the slide, pull slide stop out, remove the slide going forward, push the captive recoil spring forward so you can remove it, remove the reverse plug, remove the barrel out the front of the slide.
