Don't ask me how, but for the life of me, I cannot remember how I found this gun dealer; www.ozarkguns.com, is owned by an Air National Guard pilot, and the store is in Gastonia, NC...I purchased the 1 remaining series 70 SS pistol, but he has several other Colts for sale; this guy is the real deal, and it's always a pleasure dealing with a gentleman who also continues to serve his country, and all of us. He does have 3 WWI pistols, and is taking offers for $1000+....too much for me, but I have seen 2 locally where the price is $1800+.
Anyway, if it helps anyone find the Colt of their wants or needs, than I have done my duty...break out the plastic guys :scared:
Bud's is another one to watch, they usually have good prices.

now you tell me!!! :D I will keep them on my fave list as well....their prices are exceptional, compared to what the dealers in Virginia are asking.
Sorry, I didn't see your posts in time. :(

Buds are great to deal with and it is hard to beat their price. My last purchase was a blue Gold Cup Trouphy for $829. Just a outstanding shop on the net.

Thanks for the links, guys. I'm always interested in new sources. And I love the pictures. Guess it's time to get a second job to finance my addiction!

I did...just picked up my Series 70 in SS yesterday...beautiful piece...Ozark ONLY sells new guns...the owner is a LTC in the NCANG, and when he's in the sandbox, his family and friends run the shop...lots of military buy from him...great personalized service...now, if I can figure out how to send pics...
BTW, you can see her at the www.ozarkguns.com web site...it says one left, but the site was not updated.
The new Colt's ain't so bad after all, eh? ;)
Congratulations Al, we'll need of full report soon. :D

You are right...very impressed with this piece...my feelings go back to my 1991 which I had to do some "work" on since she came with a rough/poor finish, plastic trigger and MSH...she looks good now, but the GIGANTIC 1991 on the slide is a turn off...but I'll keep her, even if she's butt ugly. ;)
I have a billboard roll-marked '91A1 also, it never seemed to effect the function any. ;)
I know a lot of folks hate the markings, it isn't my favorite style either, but I figure beauty is as beauty does, mine is quite beautiful. http://www.pinoyexchange.com/forums/images/smilies/cheers.gif

I recently bought a new NIB SS GCT (05070X) for $855 from AJC Sports Shop down in South Texas. They seem to be lower than most. Ozark shows $909 on this gun.
On the Blue GCT (05870CS) AJC shows $815, Ozark is at $879 and Bud's shows $1,047.
For the 1991 Govt model (01991) AJC shows $629, Bud's is at $636, and Ozark shows $665.
AJC shipped quickly and I was happy with the service.

OK....what did I do to mess with my new piece...Lord knows I can't leave a 1911 alone....well, it so happens I really like the bead blasted slide lock (even if it's not checkered) and thumb safety; I was less impressed with the recoil spring plug (it has a dimple...what is that?), so I put a Ed Brown SS plug (nicer detailed and finished...I put on a pair of Hogue smooth Coco-bolo grips, and, as with all my 1911's, I use CMC 8 round Power Mags...the pistol is not carry beveled, but I don't mind...out of the box, she looks really good...even the dark colored "Rosewood" double diamond grips are well made, but I just had to change the grips...now for the test....I just got back from A&P Arms in Virginia Beach, where I put 150 rounds through her...flawless...at 15 yards, single handed, I got every shot in the "kill zone"...average groupings were 5 inches...I'm not a Les Baer, so if I can get the torso every time, than I feel like Wyatt Earp...to be fair, my SA Mil-spec does the same for me in terms of reliability and accuracy, but I did have to change out the barrel for a Storm Lake...damn Colt's (atleast this Series 70) are a worthy investment.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it! :)
I was less impressed with the recoil spring plug (it has a dimple...what is that?
Hey, I'll buy it off ya!
Those are the best recoil spring plugs you can have, if you know what they are for. Ya ever tear down a 1911 and have the plug slip and go zinging off in the wild blue? Use the "dimple" to screw the cap on to the spring, it won't happen again.

Ahhhhhh....I think I'll keep her; but when I removed it, it wasn't screwed down...I have had, in the past, and even with my GI issued piece, have the plug and spring go after my face...I wonder why I can't remember if that was a point mentioned when we were qualifying back in the 60's...

They probably didn't know what it was for either. ;)
Something you might want to remember, if and when you replace recoil springs, you may have to push the "dimple" down a little farther. At least with Wolff springs you do, they use a slightly larger gage wire.
