I have heard that 1911(A1's) were still being issued during the first gulf war, but I've never seen a picture of one. Anyone have or seen one?

Beretta is the standard issue for the most part.
1911s are basically used by the "Special Force" types, MEU(SOC), DET-1, Delta etc.

I've seen that first picture before, and the more I see it the more I think it is a photochop! Look carefully at the hammer of the pistol. Does it look OK to you?

It's a legitimate picture John, Pat Rogers even posted the name of the Marine holding the weapon once. If I get time later, I'll see if I can locate the post.

It won't be the first time my eyes play tricks on me, so I won't be surprised! :)

I note that the Colonel in the last picture carries "cocked and locked."
Good man :)

Pat Rogers;

:D Hmmm....are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is that a Springfield slide on that pistol? :D

BTW, I carried a 1911 when flying in Gulf #1; our CAG felt that if you qualified in it, you can carry it. Sorry....no pics, OPSEC & PERSEC apply.

Could be, could be the angle. They sole sourced a number of parts, they bought Caspian slides also.

OK, I'll bite. ;)
How does Operational Security or Personnel Security - Personal Security, apply?

You want a Colt? :scared:

We have 2 Enhanced STS Commanders, no 1991s that I'm aware of.
