my problem is similar to the one stephan had - first i thought it was a weak recoil spring - after looking for weeks to replace the triple spring system (i just found this site), i just bought an ed brown heavy-duty spring - i kept the smallest of the 3 in there as well - not there is no problem chambering the new round now, but i am still having jamming problems every other round (@ least) - this is my carry gun and i am about to trade it in - i could not trade this to another individual in this condition - the problem that i see is an uneven feed ramp - the barrel is very loose when the slide is back and creates a very uneven surface for the new round to move across - the model i have is older as it does not have the black widow on the back of the slide and it has "WA" after oly on the frame - it is not a kit - the serial number starts with "S" - any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Lance

i have asked a few people locally, including a SWAT armor - no luck with my problem - heading over to trade it in for a glock 36 - with my next purchase you will see me in the springfield forum - parts are too hard to find and noone really knows about the enforcer - thanks anyway

Lance,
Welcome to the forum!
I'm by no means a gunsmith, but I will offer a suggestion if I may. PM one of the mods and ask them to move this thread to the "gunsmithing" forum for you. There are some very knowledgable folks here and your question will most likely get better exposure in the other forum.
Problems like you describe can be frustrating ... good luck Sir!

Contact Olympic Arms, and request Rick Neimer.........tell him that Steve from down south sent you. He'll be able to get you on the right track.
He's a Tuner with a fancy handle bar 'stache............
Let me know what he said...........

Thanks guys. I just tried and spoke with Richard's direct report. He said Richard was on vacation until next Monday. It's great to speak with the company that made the gun. Whoever in recent posts complained about Oly's customer support, I highly disagree. He was very eager to help. Even though it will be a week, I do not mind waiting. It could be worse if coldn't plink with my AR in the meantime. He looked up my serial number and said that was a factory model. I will wait until Monday and will report back with more details (if you're interested). I am sure glad I didn't let this gun go. I have been trying for a while to find help for this. I finally found out where I can get the correct springs for this recoil system. This gun just shoots way too smooth to give up. I am sure glad I found this forum. Thanks again.

Lance, glad you got the problem fixed.
The guys there are really some of the best in the industry as far as knowledge goes, especially with 1911's.
Neimer is the one that got me started 'smithing 1911's. He was the Chief pistolsmith for the old Detonics back in the 80's So anytime you see a 1911 with the barrel overshooting the bushing......that's a Neimer design.
Just like Tuner, Neimer combs his hair with a micrometer too! :D

Hello Lance,
I had the same problem with my Enforcer.
Wichaka and Richard Neimer helped me to get my gun shooting.
The problem was a false recoil spring. You surely have read this, however.
It looks so that the problems are overcome actually. The Enforcer quite seldom jams.
But it’s already nearly a wonder that the designers of these short guns have found a way to make the interplay of the parts for the different ammunition types so well.
The design of the Enforcer is so nice that I won't sell them any more.
I am a member of a shooting group (www.slg-wolfstein-neumarkt.de) in the BDMP (a private shooting organization of the armed forces marksman and police marksman in Germany - similar to the British Army Rifle/Pistol Association).
We have a lot of static and dynamic shooting-disciplines.
In our dynamic competitions Police Pistol und NPA-B Service Pistol we have to shoot 30 rounds in a very short time.
In this fast disciplines I use my USP.
But in the precision disciplines I need a gun like the Enforcer.
I wish you good luck and a lot of fun with your Enforcer.

Gentlemen,
Thanks again for your insight. This forum is great! I spoke with Richard, and he is getting me in contact with someone in sales to purchase the new recoil spring system. I hope that helps. Then there's the option of sending it in. I might have to do some paperwork to get it back. That doesn't sound like much fun. I will post the result of my new springs as soon as they arrive. I would hate to trade this enforcer in, it just feels too good in my hand. Not to mention, as Stephan said, it is highly accurate.
Hersh,
Thanks for having this theread moved.
Stephan,
Thanks for serving in Germany. That is where my ancestors are from. Good luck with your enforcer as well.
wichaka,
I told Richard that you sent me. I might call you for a guide up north some day!
Thanks again guys,
Lance

Glad he was able to help........if there's something I can do from here to help with the process, let me know.

i have been using the regular white box winchester 230 gr fmj - Richard said just fork over the $ for good hollow points as they don't jam up as much - as much as i love going to the range, this could get costly - what are your opinions on ammo?

It should feed ball ammo. Our dept uses Winchester White Box for our qual/practice ammo........I've not experienced much problems with it. A round now and then will have a problem........but overall........it should work in the Enforcer.
In fact it should feed all ball type ammo without a hitch.......if it doesn't, there's something else going on with it.

Hello Lance,
I have used Winchester, Leader, Fiochi and S&B ammo till now. I'll try the hollow point ammo and report the result to you if I get some one.
In a few days I want to go to the shooting range.
Sometimes I still have feeding-problems with the Leader ammo.
A shooter of our club tried selfmade lead-bullets with my Enforcer and all works fine.
I don't like this selfmade lead ammo because I think this ammo isn't good for the barrel.
The ball type ammo seems to work mostly.
In Germany I have to pay 17 Euros per package (50 rounds) .45 ammo (230 gr FMJ).
This is very expensive.
I will do the re-loader examination in September.
I can save half of the factory ammunition costs. This would be an opportunity possible also for you.
More I think a reloader can adapt his ammo so that the gas pressure matches exactly to the gun. I have seen this on the last competition a few weeks ago.
This guys know much about ammo and shooting.
In Bavaria the reloading-course takes 2 days with examination.
A month before the examination you get your books and you have to use this time to prepare for examination.
Within the 2 days everything is repeated and you should get some exercise with the equipment for the practical examination.
I'll try to get and shoot some hollow points and tell you how it works.

after a couple of months of trying different ammo and magazines my enforcer is still jamming - i have spent almost as much on trying to get this thing to work as i did on the initial purchase - i want to get something reliable - would you guys say to just get a trusty ol glock for the time being and then save up for a nice 1911 that hopefully will work ok - i am open to options - i'm just getting very frustrated with this piece - it's a gorgeous gun and when it shoots, it's very accurate - there's just zero dependability

Hello sikko1zz,
last week my enforcer jammed with S&B ammo.
Since two month I am alowed to reload my ammo. In Germany we have to do a course to be allowed. In this course I learned something about the crimp of .45 and 9 mm ammo.
My enforcer needs a better (stronger) Taper-Crimp. The diameter of a normal .45 cartridge near the bullet is about 12,01 mm.
Some rounds of S&B ammo have 12,06...12,1 mm.
This is to much for my enforcer.
I have best results with diameters of 11,95 mm (at the crimp) and hollow points or round noses.

thanks Stephan - these tolerances are too tight on the enforcer - either that, or i just got one that someone messed with themselves - i traded it for a glock 36 today at lunch - i am sad to see my enforcer go, but i kow i have a dependable gun now - going to start looking for a replacement 1911 now - perhaps a springfield, para, or something similar - thanks for your input
