Does anyone else out there have a Colt CCO (I think it stands for Concealed Carry Officers model)? I own the only one I've ever seen, found it 2d hand in a pawn shop. Flat finish, Commander slide on an Officer's Model frame. Novak sights and (thankfully) a dovetailed front sight. It has been foolproofs, never malfunctioned, it's accurate and despite my large hands and the relatively short grip frame it's my favorite 1911. I'd like to put a bit better trigger and an ambi safety on it but otherwise it's great. I'm just wondering why I've never seen another one, either at gun stores or gun shows.

Your post belongs in the Colt area, not in the area reserved for making suggestions about the forum.
I'll move it to the right area.

What you have is an early model CCO made by Colt in 1998. Flat finish SS slide, slanted cocking serrations, top of slide is ribbed with a rear sight that is almost shaped like Novaks, 3 dot sight system, black annodized aluminum frame, Hogue wraparound rubber grips with finger grooves, Colt ambi safety, on the right side is C.C.O. and 3 hole composite trigger. That's a rare find.
CONGRATULATIONS!! That is a keeper.

How ironic! Just saw a Colt CCO at the gun show here in Mesquite yesterday--first one I recall ever seeing. Don't remember the price, but it wasn't out of sight. I think it was NIB, but can't remember. Nice gun.

I went looking for a CCO a while back, and couldn't find one. My local toy store said they hadn't seen one in years. So, I went ahead and ordered a Kimber Compact CDP II, almost the same, except a 4" barrel instead of a 4 1/4".

Hey John, why don't you move out to one of the small Greek islands, declare it an independent country and set up your own ownership and carry laws. I'm sure you could get some help and support from some of the members on the forum, especially from the group that lives in California. :D

Could you imagine only having 2 handguns, that would make the buying choices very tough. I'm not even a full fledged gun aficionado and have 9. It would be tough to have to choose which to keep.

John, I could not live in a state or country that limited me to 2 pistols or restricted me from carrying a pistol. Or from carrying 2 (or more) pistols.
Elmo, I have 2 CCO's. One is the original model made in 1998, black frame sand blasted stainless slide, my personal favorite. The other is a XS CCO made only about a year, nickle coated frame and a little more polish on the slide and a few more factory installed features but just not as "cool" in my opinion, I have been thinking about doing some modifications and sending it out to get a coat of Black-T applied.
They are kind of scarce, I just sort of stumbled onto mine and I have seen very few for sale in the past 5-6 years, I have no idea how many were produced but it couldn't have been many. I remember when they were available and nobody really got excited about them until they were discontinued.
They do make a good carry gun.

I used to have one of those, sold it during a fit of stupidity. So when Colt came out with the Gunsite version of that pistol, I jumped on it. It's my #1 choice for concealed carry.

Nice Pistol! I have read that Colt stopped making the Gunsite Pistol. Does anyone know if that is that true?

i'm about to post my own thread about mine. i love it, i've only had the chance to put one mag through it, but it's a pleasure to shoot and carry, i just think i want some 8 round magazines, maybe some ambidexterous controls and a feed ramp polishing, and i'll be one happy man.

I have read that Colt stopped making the Gunsite Pistol. Does anyone know if that is that true? That's what I've heard from my usual Colt dealer. I had to run out and find a NIB full-size blued Gunsite pistol just in case. Got one on Gunbroker for only $1150, thank goodness. My local dealer had the stainless model in stock, but it was $1500 plus tax.

That is a good price. Wish I had some extra money, I think I'd get a blue one. So many Colts, so little money.

I carry the Colt Gunsite CCO. It is a great gun. I would get the full size model too, but I don't really need it. What am I saying? I always need a new 1911.
