I have a new TRP stainless that will not feed Wilson mags. I have requested help from Springfield but was told that the problem was with the Wilson mag follower and springs. I called Wilson and they told me the defect was with the Springfield slide stop. Sure enough when I put my Colt slide stop in the TRP problem solved! Ordered a Wilson slide stop!
Hope this helps someone else as Springfields custom shop has not resolved the problem.

I've had several Springfields on the bench that had mis-shaped slide stops. Its generally at the end that contacts the plunger. It needs to be made a bit more square than how they come on the gun. As they go up, the pressure increases......

I use Wilson 8 rd , springfield supplied , colt , mgm and kimber mags in my TRP without a hitch.
As a mater of fact i have yet to find a mag or load including various hand loads that will not work through my TRP.
I have never been a good pistol / hand gun shot but i can shoot 1" to 3/4" 25 yard groups with this pistol. Love it. hope things work out with yours.

Hi, I bought a Wilson 8rd magazine with high hopes and expectations. I wanted top quality and 8 rounds. I'am still sure that Wilson makes a fine magazine, its just that my TRP didnt seem to like it. When I got it home, I loaded it up with 8 rounds and with the slide fully forward tried to seat the magazine. No go..! Of course, it would with 7 but I was paying for 8. I called Wilson's and they told me to push harder, that it will seat. Nope. No matter how hard I pushed it would not seat with 8 rounds. And evan if it had at that point, I dont need a magazine that I have to force into place. Took it back and bought McCormick Pro Mags. Problem solved, 8 rounds and seats as it should. I dont know if mine would have done the same as yours, but I wouldnt be surprised.Good shooting.Bladeswell

I finally fixed the problem by taking off the magwell, which was poorly or not fitted and hand beveling the inside lips leading to the mag funnel with a dremel. To see if this is the problem, simply remove the mag well and attempt to feed the mag.

Mabella: I had the same problems with a TRP SS and the factory shop/rep. was no help. Sent the gun back and all I got in return was a nasty, short note that they could find no problem(s). Hence, I have not purchased another SA.

My TRP feeds fine with Wilson 8 Rounders but they won't lock the slide back. All my metalform 7 round mags work fine.

Here folks is a text book problem with guns made these days...........

Some will do this, others won't.............some will allow this to be done, mine won't...........on and on..............and on...............and on..........

This is what happens when QC is not where it should be, or makers are a bit off the original specs for the 1911.

Which in turn gives the 1911 a bad rapp............

I have yet to find a Wilson that won't work in an old Colt...........wonder why that is?

Its hard to blame the gun. The wilson mags he has probably need new springs, which are a maintenance issue.
Additionally, Springfield gives you alot of gun for a lot less than a like configured piece would cost from a custom smith. After resolving the overhanging lip on the mag funnel I have had 0 problems with my TRP.

I dont mean to, but...

My SA TRP is being very much a pain when it comes to mags. Right out of the box with the factory mags it would not feed the first round when full, but would with 6. I left them loaded, and they worked. I just tested them again, and they will not reliabily feed that first round when full1 So they are removed for use in practice.

Out of 9 Wilson 8 rounders only two feed properly when full and lock the slide back. The others are a no go, but work fine in Colts. I got a Tripp research replacement kit for the Wilsons, and so far so good. I hope this does it. I have tried the Chip McCormicks but they are next if this doesnt work.

VERY INTERESTING! I shoudl add I am using Gold Dot 230 grain, and the hollow point is much different then a Hydra shok which I attribute to the problem.

I would definitely return that gun to SA

The problem is this is my duty gun. Turn around time at best would be 1 or 2 weeks?? I have decided I will either wait for my next vacation, or maybe call SA for a replacement I can have installed. I had actually forgotten I was going to do that. (getting old).
