Hello, I would like to know if I can send a 1991 Commander back to colt to be done in nickle, or blue. Does colt do a good job on refinishing and not mess up the markings? I would think it would be the best place to send one, but you never know anymore. I had one gun done locally and the markings was almost polished off. Thank You

Colt refinished the slide on my Series 70 under warranty and I can't tell it from the original (for all I know, they might have replaced the slide, but they said they refinished it).

Colt refinishes pistols. I have no idea how well they do it, but I would bet they do a fine job. I have a revolver I'm thinking of sending them to get reblued, it is a Python and that Royal Blue is so pretty. Just call customer service and they will help you. 1-800-962-COLT

A good friend of mine just sent an original series 70 back to the factory for a refinish in nickle. They had one of their craftsman hand engrave the slide markings to sink them deeper into the slide so it would look new with crisp markings. It cost a little extra, but it seems worth it to me. They did an awesome job!.

I am also thinking of bringing my Colt 1991A1 9mm to be refinished, install Heinie sights, and beavertail grip safety. When I decide I will post before and after pictures.
