Here's a couple of pics of a damaged firing pin stop that came out of a Colt 1918 (514k serial range).
This is very similar to the one that Mr. Holbrook posted recently.

If it's any consolation...it's not the original.

Thanks Tuner!
I know there's 2 different "radius" measurements. I think Clawson says that they changed them in January 1918 starting around s/n 240,000.
There's photos of each in Clawson's small book....they're side views.
To me it looks like one type is "blunt" and the other one kinda "pointed".
The "damaged" one I have looks like what he calls "new-style" beignning at
roughly s/n 240,000.
I saw a box of spare firing pin stops at a show not too long ago... but wasn't sure what I was looking for. I know the one's that have numbers stamped on them are not right for the 1918 Colt (s/n 514,268).
I was thinking of taking this damaged one with me the next time... but now I'm not sure what the "correct" one looks like.
Do you have any pics of the "correct" stop?

Here's a pic of the side of the firing pin stop.... kinda slopes to a rounded point, but does not have a blunt end.

Don't have any pictures, but the old-style radius is .078 inch...or about 5/64ths. Good luck in findin' an original. Nearly all were eventually changed out to the new 7/32nds radius if they made it into an armory before they were "liberated." If you're not a stickler for originality, you can get an EGW oversized stop with a square bottom and cut the correct radius on it. I may have a few new-style USGI stops around here somewhere. If I can find one, I'll send it to ya.

I just read one of your older postings on firing pin stop & springs...WOW!
Sounds like you know your stuff!

This is the pre 240,000 serial number range firing pin stop. They were radiused by hand, and as in the case of this one, they weren't always perfectly done. The radius was increased to make the action of the slide cocking the hammer easier.

This should be what you are looking for. (I took this picture from another post that says it's from a Colt #61,2xx.)

The Springfield Armory firing pin plate was beveled on both ends. I guess it looked more finished with the bevel on the top.
