Confused newbie in Calif, with following questions for the experts. Tried to do a search of this site, no luck. Calif law makes it tough to be a gun-owner. Want to buy a 1911 Springer. Looking at used on different sites. When I try and find if a particular gun can be sold to Calif, I look at the DOJ site. It lists only models that start with "P". Can't seem to find out if I can have an older model 1911, ser # "N" or "M", shipped to my FFL. Can anyone help me? I'd hate to pay for a gun, only to be told I can't have it in Calif.
Thanks in advance.

Hiya Dan,
New Springers as for as I know are legal in CA. CA. have a drop test"probally unrealistic" to see if it will go off. New Springers have a titanium firing pin and a very strong firing pin spring. The firing pin is a 9mm/38super pin. This pin has a smaller striking surface. Some say that it is really a better setup than the original. From what Wilson Combat tech support says they are going to go with it on the ownpistols, but don't quote me. You can call their tech support line if you want to be sure. If you buy a used Springer that has had a different firing pin and spring installed you may not be legal in CA. A new one should be no prob. If in doult call Spingfield and ask them about their pistol and CA. law. Hope this has helped you alittle bit.
