I'm looking to buy a mil-spec Colt 1911, in stainless preferably. Maybe a 1911? I'm not sure....what would you recommend in a basic Colt, and what should I be looking at price-wise?

In the neighborhood of $850 NIB to $550 used but in good shape. Excellent pistol I have a few. I think you would be pleased with the Colt.

Yikes! Are the STS 91s going for that now?
We have a new blued 91 in the shop for $775 (asking price).

The last new stainless 91A1 I saw was in Gander Mountain and it was listed for $839.00 :butthead:

Maybe you would like an ORM 1991? they can be had for pretty cheap, and they're a great base gun for mods ;) , you can get them in stainless, matte blue, and I believe there are few parkerized models still floating around out there.

What about a O1070A1CS Series 70 in stainless, http://www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/Series70.asp . I paid $739 for my blue one but what I've seen lately has been between $800 and $900 here in Central Texas.
