Hi,
I am new to the forum but have read many posts already and all of them have been very helpful. I am in the process or getting my first 1911, either a CD or a RIA. Can anyone tell me which is the better choice. I held the RIA today and really liked it but it seems like the CD comes with more extras. I like the high ride beavertail and the combat hammer and trigger on the CD. Is the CD as reliable as the RIA or will it have problems. I know that they are both made by Amrscor but I was just wondering which would be a better fit for the money.
Thank you very much.

How about a new loadded Arnscor with all the bells and whistle for $345 ?
Take a look
http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=51591625
As you can see it has an ambi grip safety and Novak rear sights .
If I were going to buy a full sized 1911 I would jump on this right NOW !!

I agree with BigO, I have the same pistol in the two-tone and love it.

I paid 369.00 or 379.00 for the same gun in a gun shop . So after all taxes and FFL fees are paid it will cost you about 400.00 or so, throw in a good mag for a spare and you are about at 430.00. not a bad price for my sister gun IMHO :D Floyd

I understand that there is going to be several more lines added to RIA. Right now Armscor makes a pistol with the bells and whistles. Armscor produces the parts for CD , Hi Standard , and RIA. Check out the Hi Standard as I believe you can order them on a made to order basis.

I don't know about that , I've emailed them (HS) on several occasions and have yet to hear back. Maybe calling Hi-Standard would be a better option.
I also was under the impression that the Hi-Standard M1911A1 was the only one made by Armscor and the others that appear on their site are of some other origin. Now I see they offer a true Commander size (4.25" bbl) "Crusader" but again, I emailed them asking where I might purchase one and ....nothing!

Jeff , I called them a few months ago and was told that their Commanders and full sized that are anything other than the basic Milspecs are made in Houston Texas . I didn't think to ask if "Made In" ment all parts manufactored or just assembled though , so to be honest for all I know they could be slapping together Essex slides and frames with their name on them .
I passed on buying one ,and instead waited until I found a Midsized Daly on gunbroker . If HS is around a few more years I may try one of their Commander models , that is after I give a Taurus Commander a shot .

The fellow selling that pistol has the name "Armscor" misspelled. I suspect that will have an impact on how many people see it. If you do a search for Armscor on GB, that gun does not come up.
Well fsuM9 I guess you didn't want one too bad as I see the auction ended and the gun was unsold $365 shipping included was the price as not a single person bid on it . If and when you ever actually do decide to realy purchase a gun you're going to wish you had bought that one . Matching that price in the future is going to be hard to do .

fsuM9 the Armscor they are telling you about is just like the CD Field series guns. If you want all of the bells & whistles get the CD or Armscor you have seen on gunbroker. If you want to customize one you can't beat the RIA's. I have heard alot of very positive feedback on the RIA's and the Armscor as well. I have a CD I like it very much but this is after 2 trips to CD for warranty work! I have heard also that RIA customer service and warranty works is tops as well. Armscor makes CD, High Standard & RIA etc. So any of them are great guns. One thing nice about RIA's & Armscor Ivan is always here to offer help and suggestions as well so you can't beat that!!! Good Luck with you choice, & welcome to the forum, great place to get great information and meet great people!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi
Never assume that an auction is for a perfect item. Don't fret about the ones you miss.

When the time is right he will know it. And he'll realize later when he missed a good deal. I've passed up several "right" times also. I've gone back to get one that I'd had my eye on, only to find that it was gone. I'd been waiting on that better deal that was already a steal. Just the opposite of buyers remorse. Guess you'd call it anti buyers remorse, as I'm still kicking myself for not picking it up when I could have gotten it.

I just got one of the HS and it look and feels great, the gap between frame and slide is close to the min. side, which gives a almost slide fit with out loose play like in older GI unites. Love mine and thinking about either getting one made by a gunsmith or a store model.
Others said that a 1911 is like a rabbit, the family grows.

Carl, when you get a chance take a look at the Hi-Standard web sight they offer quite a lot there.
