Hi,

The slide stop of my MK IV SS (the part that that touches the magazine follower) broke. The gun is relatively new, 800 rounds.
I would like to know if it's a normal thing or I am just unlucky. Also, should I replace it by a Colt part or a high end brand (Wilson, Baer etc).

Thanks

OK

It happens, but it is not common. You'll get as many answers as there are 1911 owners. ;)

Personally, I like the Colt parts.

Call Colt's customer service number. Cathy or Cindy might just send you one. Have the serial number so they'll know it's a new-ish gun.

Go for Hawkmoon's advice. Colt should be able or shall I say Colt will replace the part.

I agree with Hawk. Talk with Kathy she has always helped me out. I do not know the other lady. I would defiantly go back with a Colt part.

Thanks to all of you,

I'm happy we all think alike, I don't like to use non Colt parts on Colts even if they might be "better".

Hunter I already knew you answer... :)

Ordered the part today but they won't replace no charge because the gun was magnufactured in 1995 and apparently the "agreement" applys after 1997.

$40.00 +shipping (Norinco had it for $2.25 :D :D )

Thanks again
