Hello All:
I just had my Gunsmith order a [B]Caspian Carbon Classic Receiver (original receiver model for John Browning design), but wondering if I should of selected the Carbon Receiver instead?
I am building a good, tactical carry gun with the look of the standard 1911A1..
Thanking you in advance,
Stephen

Well secinv, your comments are a bit confusing.
The classic receiver is just like the original 1911 circa WWI.
However, you stated you wanted a 1911- A1 look which has the finger cutouts by the trigger and looks more like the standard carbon receiver.
So I guess my answer would be get clear in your mind what you want and then choose accordingly.

I am still confused. The standard carbon receiver will look like an M1911A1, and the classic receiver will look like an original M1911. You can build either using a standard 5" slide and barrel, a Commander slide and barrel, or even an Officers slide and barrel. So either will satisfy your needs. It's a question of what you want it to look like.
Personally, I prefer a Commander or Officers size pistol for carry, and neither of those were offered by Colt on the original M1911 pattern receiver.
