Will these put together count as a Colt? The lower frame is a SS Colt Commander and the slide is off of a LW Commander. Paid $300 for the frame and $200 for the slide with parts. Maybe, hey, just thought about it, I have a one of a kind!!

Howdy Pete.

No less than if Colt had replaced the slides under warranty. Now, the mismatch would likely be obviously not Colt OEM...but a Colt slide and internals is all Colt.

Hi Tuner and I like all those questions and answers that you post here, very informative to those who need a little more understanding on how the 45 works and was designed to work. The way I look at it is if the Armories can take different slides and frames to make a good one, well in all reality that is exactly what I am doing. This is not the first 45 I have worked on as in the past I have worked on many. I have a *ahem* Kimber Classic Gold Match slide that I am going to build into either a bullseye or IPSC gun. I have a Comp made by EGW that I might install on the slide when I get around to fitting it to it and also boring out the opening for a 45 round to go through, it is a 9 port comp but I might shorten it up to an 8 port. All is fun in the gunsmithing world if only I had more time on my hands. I used to have a business in NW Indiana under the name of PistolPete's Gunsmithing that I used to do on the side for other people and of course I did have an FFL at the time too. Keep up the good work in keeping the many members here informed and also you might want to start that book of yours, would outsell all the rest of them out there and also look at the royalties you can make.....just a thought.
