I got a call from a friend who has a stainless 38 super Gov model (80) he wants me to look at.
Whats the going rate for good condition/box/tags etc- any thing to look for in terms of unusual wear etc?

regards, CWG

As always, look for evidence of inexpert gunsmithing. I'd also check that the parts specific to the Super, like the ejector and slide stop, have not been swapped for .45 parts.

LOL, I was just surfing the gunsmithing area to see pics of what was screwed up, actually learned something.
But the swapped parts...thats going to take some research- good call.
I've decided I gotta have a 38 Super to expand my collection. The guy I got my first one called, somehow he stumbled onto another collection. Only two colts, some wheel guns..pfffffffft

If it is what he says it is being a used Colt stainless .38 Super in good shape with the box and paperwork I would guess in the $700-$750 range. I bought my brand new stainless Colt .38 Super for around $850.If it is bright stainless I would figure an additional $100-$150.I am guessing at what I would pay you might consult the Blue Book Of Gun Values but I do not have a current one on hand. If it is a newer Colt it will have the dimpled barrel so don't be surprised when you check out the barrel throat.
