Just acquired a 1918 production M1911. It's an Augusta Arsenal rework, and is stamped as such. It came with all of the DCM paperwork indicating that the lucky owner paid $17.00 for it. Doesn't look to have been fired after the rebuild. It still has all of the correct parts on it, including the early sights and safety. Grips are plastic, though.

Welcome to the forum and very nice Colt you have. I am partial to Colts myself.

Looks good, great find, and looks typical of DCM firearms. Now if you got it for $17 that would be the deal of the century.

I just picked up one myself this afternoon. SN #327xxx.
The Good
- Slide looks to match the frame.
- I didn't see any arsenal marks
- Finish is still "decent"
The Bad
- Plastic grips
- Hammer, slide stop and bushing look to be replacements
- Barrel looks like a commercial replacement, good condition
- Some minor pitting
I'll add more details and pics to a separate thread when I get home from work.
Thanks,
bnoji

Gents, they won't be original 1918 production, but Sarco, Inc., has walnut double diamond grips for $12.95 a pair. Knowing that the plastic isn't correct for the gun either, I think I'd be willing to settle for reproductions just to put the pistol a bit closer to original configuration.
