I have a Colt Series 70 pistol, .45 ACP, in what looks like electroless nickel. I was trying to find serial number info to find it's production date. Serial is:32xxxB70. The electroless nickel is factory, as the left side of the frame is engraved with the rampant colt, series 70, and government model. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Geoff

My limited knowledge (which makes me deadly) is that prior to 1983 (the first year for Stainless) a Colt, Silver in color, would have been Nikel or Chrome. Typically the customer would have had to request this prior to 83' or he would have gotten Blue.

It sounds like satin nickel, standard offering at time.
It wouldn't be chrome.

Yep. Electroless nickel...Trademarked as "ColtGuard" and a very durable finish. Hard to clean up unless ya know exactly how to go about it. Very exacting process, so ya'll listen up.
Detail strip it and put the slide and frame in the dishwasher. Cascade works.
Lemon scent is good.
Cheers! :D

My dishwasher is my wife doing the dishes in the sink.
She will not wash my pistols! :D

Mine wanted one of dem famn dancy elektonik dish washers. When I gave her an ektension kord, she threw a frying pan at me.
Funny, the same thing happened when she wanted on of those electronic floor sweepers.
I guess I'm doing something wrong.
