Sudden slide lever problem & match tomorrow!

I racked the slide and it didn't return to battery... suddenly the pressure of my forefinger along the frame is pushing the slide lever out while I manipulate the gun.

What gives? I think I need to tighten this sucker up a little bit.

I know that this is a "gunstore trick--" to pop the slide lever by pushing while you rack the slide, but I'm not TRYING to push, its just where my finger goes.

sounds like the plunger spring has weakened some. If you remove the plunger spring from the plunger tube stretch it and see if that helps. If you don't have a replacement spring on hand that may get you by.
