It's been a while, so I thought I'd give yall a bit of a preview on my latest project build. It is a ways from completion, alot still to be done, but here is a few pics on how it is shaping up:

I expect a few more months to complete it. I've been dumping most of my extra funds right now towards that matched set of Damascus 1911's currently under construction at Crawley Custom. :D

;) uhhhhhhhh.
i'm kinda partial to some bumps on top of the slide. I find them useful when attempting to strike the target......
of course, your mileage may vary. ;)

Really looks good so far. What trigger is that?

Good luck with the finishing touches.

Ah, but remember, Matt is not trying to create a gun here. This is just an expensive ... piece of art. :D

And a beautiful piece of art, at that! Matt, I'll be anxious to see pictures of your Damascus. Ken Crawley showed me the last Damascus he made up when I was at his shop a couple of months back. He does pretty work! http://www.crawleycustom.com/gallery.html

If I am not wrong, that's a Dlask Arms Magnesium alloy trigger. I also have the same one, just love it!

Hey thanks for the feedback guys, sorry for the delayed response, work is bustin my b****s right now. Hehe.

Iceman, you are absolutely correct, nice spotting the component. The trigger is indeed a Dlask magnesium trigger. I used the middle-length trigger boot for this one and fitting it was fairly easy as tooling the magnesium is a nice, softer metal and a swiss file takes the material off like talcum powder. Hehe

clughog, yeah that last Damascus beauty Ken rolled out of his shop was a real sweetheart and I am itching to get my pair done and in front of the camera. That set I am personally not even touching the work on so that the pistols entirely come together under the hand of the master smith himself. I actually got a couple more of the big components in for that set of builds last week. I took advantage of both a coupon and the special father's-day sale MidwayUSA ran and managed to get a matched set of stainless, Bar-sto Match barrels brand new with bushings and links all for around $360 all said and done with. Many of the exotic parts are in with the exeption of sights, triggers, and mainspring housings. The sights are not that much of a biggie to acquire, but the triggers and mainspring housings are on order with Caspian and have been for several months now. I am expecting their next Damascus production run to start shipping in October, so it'll probably be around then that these parts come in. I've also got a matched pair of Damascus longslides (6" slides) on order which will likely arrive when they do, so you'll probably be seeing the twin governments roll in as the twin longslides go to the shop and begin their long and arduous task of moving from bench and box to built and bang.
