Would like Colt to come out with a 70 Series MIM/Cast free Commander pistol in stainless steel, fine bead blasted finish with NO shiny/polished flats, for a price competitive with SA, Kimber, et al, in a GI configuration + lowered and flared ejection port, and High viz GI sights....is this too much to ask???

I do not mind the polished flats, but it should have a small Commander hammer (not those huge oval ones), an arched, checkered mainspring housing and a long, solid trigger.

Is that too much??

Gentlemen,

I'm presently lusting for an XSE Combat Commander in SS, but I like your ideas!

I'm with Dustoff, but make mine in that old rich Colt blue and Novak night sights. I'll call it my Texas BBQ gun.

...I don't mind the shiny flats, but if one wants "tactical-schmactical, a nice SS bead blast finish would be the way to go...call it "Urban Stealth"; as for blue finish....definitely....nice, polished blue the old fashioned way...and yess, the arched MSH (checkered) and mid-length solid alum trigger, + ROUND Commander hammer....sigh....I wonder if Colt and SA ever listen to what we really want?

You guys sure have some great ideas! Hersh, I'm with you on the XSE. My dealer can order me one for $795 but I haven't "pulled the trigger" yet--can't decide if I want to get another .45 or get a .38 Super (and convert it to a 9mm). I'm a little leary of the sights on it, though. I think they're the same as on my Colt Defender, and I just blew the front sight white dot AND the rear sight set screw off of it after only 400 rounds. Never even noticed it was loose!

I'd like to have the current Series 70s (both blue & stainless) available with alloy receivers and Yost~Bonitz retro sights.

At least a limited run (hopefully more) of Gold Cup Commanders, both in blue and SS.

Well, I'm on board for a non-Series 80 Combat Commander, but I want mine to be all steel, blued not stainless, straight mainspring housing, traditional Commander grip safety and ring-spur hammer, and standard Colt high-profile 3-dot sights. Nothing fancy, just a new version of the original Combat Commander.

How's about it, Mark?

Simple: more WWI repros. Sure, I could come up with a dozen dream Colts, but all this one needs is a little more time, love, and metal.

That doesn't sound like a bad price, but I'm with you on not jumping yet. I just got a credit card paid off and don't want to run it up again :D

I may be a little slow but would it be possible to just check off items I want on my Colt and have them assemble the gun and mail it to my FFL?

Deep Blue
Wide spur hammer
series 70 internals
arched MSH
Novak sights

Hmmm....guess except for the sights and MSH I'd have a WWI repro..uh oh..I feel the need to go shopping.

Okey-doke. I'm off topic and I apologize proactively.

When I was living in Virginia, we had this radio station where everone who worked there was a little off. The morning jocks had a "Stupid News" section during there show. They swear that all the stories were gleaned from the real news and I really don't have reason not believe them. On occasion they would award the Darwin Award to some of these idiots who always seem to add a little chlorine to our gene pool.

Apparently there were these two rocket scientists ( ;) ) who found two JATO devices and put them on their car. To make the story short, they were found stuck in the side of a cliff hundreds of yards above the road.

What's the difference between a sea story and a fairy tale? A fairy tale starts off "Once upon a time..." A sea story starts off "This ain't no (expletive deleted)..." But it's good for a beer.

Once again, I apologize for going off topic, but you asked. :D

It's a great story.

First time I heard it (well actually read it) was in an American Handgunner 5 or 6 years ago, they swore it was true, Arizona HP said it wasn't.

Just like the current 70 series repo - one Blued and one Stainless - best of both worlds -

Put me on the waiting list.....
