I just bid on and am going to receive a Colt Commander Stainless Frame complete with everything except the slide of course and it has never been fired. It is the 80 Series with the Colt black rubber wrap around grips. It will come shipped in it's original box with manual too. I got this for the buying price of $345.00 shipped to my FFL Dealer. Is this a good buy?

I guess not bad if you already have the top half

Not a bad price for a working frame. As long as you match it with a Series 80 slide from a Commander you will have a nice Colt.

I do have a lightweight commander slide customized by Cogan Customs and it comes with all the lower parts to redo my frame, like wider beavertail, extended safety, all trigger work already done with a videcki speed trigger, and it has a new barrel with bushing fitted. I also bought a 45 Commander barrel for $75.00 that is brand new that I will have to fit a bushing to it and also to the slide so that I will have a spare. I used to be a Gunsmith in Indiana specializing in 45's and also S&W revolvers. Made a couple of IPSC guns at the time too and all had the then called hand checkering done to them and the people whom I sold these to called me and said that the guns were great shooters. I read somewhere on this thread about the firing pin stop being less beveled than the original. I used to weld up the old ones with the springs from 45 clips and then shape the bottom as was on the thread. I would go with file in hand out to the shooting range till I got the gun to shoot with as less of a flip as possible and this was with a 14 pound recoil spring installed. Now that was the old fashioned way and thank god EGW now makes them so it is much easier than the old gas weld, file flat, file to shape, then heat treat one more time afterwards!
