Unhappy With Ciener

I own two M1911A1's. I have a Rock Island Armory Government Model and a Charles Daly Target model. The Ciener kit fit on my Daly, but I could not get the magazine catch pin to go in on the Rock Island Armory.

I was using Remington High Velocity Ammo and after the first clip, I had a lot of misfires with my Charles Daly. I could see where the shell casing was dented from the firing pin but the round did not go off.

I felt that his was a total waste of money.

I'm not sure what a "magazine catch pin" is.
The two most likely sources of misfires are a weak mainspring and the slide not returning completely into battery. I would clean the gun and lube it generously (Ciener recommends 5 wt synthetic motor oil) and then test fire. If the misfires persist, try pushing the slide into battery with your thumb before firing a shot. If this is the problem it will most likely solve itself as the conversion wears in. A new stock 23 lb mainspring is cheap and easy to install if the above procedure fails.
I had a Ciener conversion that had cycling problems due to a snug slide to frame fit. This was cured by installing the kit on a frame which provided a loose fit. I never experienced any ignition problems in the 1000 or so rounds I fired through it. I sold it and bought a Marvel long slide because I needed more accuracy that 2.5 in at 25 yds.

Ceiner is beneath contempt. The only people who have anything good to say about him are the people he pays advertising dollars to. It is not just him either , his products are of very poor quality and his customer service is below zero. Offensive is the best discription of having to deal with this person (scratch that I won't insult people by lumping them in the same catagory as this....this...this)

I disagree. The Ciener kit I bought was of acceptable quality (it was the cheapest I could find) and worked flawlessly on a stock frame with high velocity ammo. The mags were of exceptional quality and much better than the ones I got with my $390 Marvel conversion. My only gripe was that it would only group about 2.5 in at 25 yds. This can be a problem when you are shooting at 3 in targets.
I did call him once with a reliability problem, and apparently got lucky as the boss answered the phone. He answered my questions and recommended a solution which worked. I guess I just got lucky.

You may try to file down the breech end of that block that has the hole in it under the barrel just a little bit and you may find it will fit your RIA.
