View Full Version : New MetalForm Group Buy - Deadline 6/29/06

6th June 2006, 11:06
After discussing this with the previous group buy manager and others, I'm ready to start. So here we go with another MetalForm Magazine group buy.

Go to their website and choose what you want to buy. We will be using the prices from the 40-399 Qty column. Either post, email or pm me what you want and I'll keep the running total. This buy is open to all calibers and accessories. Order up!

Link to MetalForm's Website (https://www.metalformmagazines.com/style.asp)

ex...
2 of 45-273B @ 10.56ea .... $21.12

Payment doesn't need to be made today, but I'll have a deadline of June 29th to get the money to me. After speaking with MetalForm they did give me their disclaimer that if an item is out of stock, it can take 6-8 weeks for delivery. Hopefully we can order what's in stock. Also, the entire company will be closed during the last 2 weeks of July for a company wide vacation.

* If we get enough orders early on, I'm not oppose to splitting this up in a part one and a part two for those that need more time.

I will accept paypal with no descriptions and if you cover the fees. (.30 cents + 2.9%)

MetalForm does have a $5.00 per person option if we want them to sort everything out for us. The general feeling is we don't want to pay that, so I'll be the one sorting.

As stated in a previous post, this is how we'll handle the various costs.

$6.00 per person for up to 5 mags (zone & weight)
$8.00 per person for up to 10 mags (zone & weight)
$10.00 per person for 11 or more mags (flat rate box)

This would cover Priority Mail shipping in a box (no envelopes), your share of the MF s/h to me, my cc fees (something unforeseen till afterwards in the last buy), packaging materials (ex..tape, bubble wrap or peanuts), my time to sort out, package, deliver to the PO all of the mags.

So basically, $2.00 OF your total above, will cover this and the remainder of the money goes towards postage.

Also, should anyone live near me and want to pick it up, their total will only be $2.00 regardless of quantity.

I do work for an airline, so I do travel occassionally (Not everyday like I did before). There will be times that I don't respond to emails on the weekends, but will first thing Mondays.

So now, I'll choose what mags I need for IPSC. :)

Thanks,
Ty

Just received the MetalForm Price list. I've scanned it into a PDF for you to download. I'm trying this file storage sight. So far it seems ok.

Edited to reflect a recent development in my current mag situation...

I'm definatly in for the following...

4 45-293B at $10.42 ea = $41.68
10 45-293 at $8.50 ea = $85.00

Total without shipping would be $126.68 if my math is right... Send me a PM or Email with where I can send the MO to and the total(shipped)... probably won't be till Friday(june 16) that I can get the MO out, is that okay? I might be able to get it out earlier, but it will definatly go out Friday(Pay day!). Thank you sir!

So I can order my magazines with Wolff springs for an extra $7 a piece?

If you download the price list I scanned, you'll see a column that says Wolff Spring. If it has a Wolff spring, it'll say Yes.

ex... 45-793 (non-Wolff) $12.10
45-793W (with) $14.14

Just about all the .45 (Xtra-Capacity FlushFit) 8 rounders come with Wolff. So it depends on what you want.

I think what you're referring to is the Parts section that will sell you a separate Wolff Spring for 6.69

KenV
16th June 2006, 21:27
I'm still in for 5. I've been really busy.

Just realized that I can't get a welded base with a slam pad AND the Wolff spring. Am I reading this properly? Forget it, this will do:

5 x 45-793W (stainless/7rd/welded/Wolff/flat follower) = 5 x $14.14 = $70.70, plus $6 S/H = $76.70. Perfect. All I need is an address in my PM box and I'll jump on it.

Thanks again lpspinner! Sorry for taking so long.

K

Edit: $76.70 went out before noon today (Saturday 17JUN06), thanks lpspinner!

I'd like (2) 9-773B @ 15.64 = 31.28 + 6.00 = 37.28.

With Paypal fees (37.28 + .30 = 37.58 *1.029 = 38.67) it totals $38.67.

Please provide your Paypal account address and let me know when to send the payment. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

2 ea. 45-793W (stainless/ 7 round/ flat dimpled follower with Wolff spring) magazines @ 14.14 ea. and 1 ea. 45-298 (carbon/ 8 round/ flat dimpled follower with Wolff spring )@ $8.88 and 3 ea.BPB (black base pads)@$1.93 .

That calculates to 2 X $14.14=$28.28 + $8.88=$37.16 and 3 X $1.93=$5.79, plus $6.00 S&H, for a total of $48.95.

When sorting the orders how will you identify the 7 round Wolff spring mags from 7 round non Wolff spring mags?

Suggestion: Compare the 8 round mag spring (Wolff) to the 7 round mag springs.

PM me on where and when to send a check.

Thanks.

Well, sorry about waiting so long but I'd like to get in on this deal. I'm interested in 2 of the 45-747E (Elite 8's in polished) and two of the 45-793W (7 round, stainless, flat dimpled follower, with the wolff spring).

2@18.99 +
2@14.14 +
$6.00 s/h =
72.26 +
$0.30 + 2.9% = $74.66

Let me know via PM if this is the correct total, and who to send the payment to via paypall.

Hello:
I am brand new to this forum. I would like to take part of this group buy - if it's not too late.

8 - 45-747E w/Black Base ($ 18.99) = 151.92

2 - Comp 45-7107B ($ 17.89) = 35.78

S/H = $ 8.00
$ 195.70 + .30 + 5.86 (2.9%) = $ 201.86

Please email a link to paypal so I can pay for this, else I can send you a check.

Thank You

Sure hope these Mags are better thensome stock 8 rd colt's I just got from CDNN that didn't keep the slide open ( $ 15.99 each).

Just sent them back to CDNN for a refund - spoke to Randal at CDNN on the phone Friday (nice guy), he said he never heard of this before. I ordered 4 and only tried 2 - that was more then enough to say no good. I ordered one of the Novaks and it seemed to work and was cheaper ( $ 13.99 - Nickel).

lpspinner
15th July 2006, 15:08
Thanks clughog, but the Mags are in Kali, not Parker.

It's not as bad as it looks, a lot of the mags are the Elite ones and those are easy to sort. Then it's just a process of elimination. It looks easier this morning as I'm no longer feeling the effects of Happy Hour. Not bad pictures after an evening of Guinesses and buffalo wings. :)

lpspinner
15th July 2006, 21:22
OK...Good News first.....

The Mags are all sorted. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought last night.

Bad News....

They shorted me 2 of the 45-747E (Elite Stainless Steel ones). Packing slips said, ordered 10 and shipped 10. I only counted 8. Everything else matched up, so I have no extra/unaccounted for mags. Problem is they'll be closed Monday until the 31st.

2 people ordered these. One ordered 8, the other ordered 2.

UGH! Just when things were going good.

jonathon
16th July 2006, 03:44
How heavy was the box?

I hear the heavier a box is, the better condition it arrives in.. something to do with it being harder to throw :D

Metalform sounds like good people, I bet they'll take care of the problem with the mags.. unfortunatly the wait is going to suck for the person waiting... :(

motec
16th July 2006, 23:26
Well, I see that me and NRA-Life-Member are the two that ordered those mags. I don't really have any suggestions on how to fairly decide who get 'em and who has to wait a little while.... First ordered-first served? If you sent me my 2 and him 6 of his 8 at least we'd both have some, but if you sent him his 8 his order would be complete. No matter what, someone is going to be waiting on 2 more mags.

One thing you might try, when you talk to metalform, is to have them send the 2 missing mags directly to the one of us you decide gets to wait... Just a suggestion.

Thanks again for all the hard work putting this deal together.

-James

lpspinner
16th July 2006, 23:48
James.....That was my thinking, first paid, so I asked NRA-Life-Member. You'll get your complete order and he'll be short two.

My intention was to have them ship directly to him, no need for us to pay postage again.

Your two package will go out tomorrow.

Everyone else...check the status page and you'll see what date I shipped your packages out. I dropped off a bunch at the post office a few hours ago.

jonathon...the package weight 17 lbs which is still within football range for UPS. The fact that it was a thick box and stapled, taped made it rugged. Packaging was definitely top-notch.

lpspinner
18th July 2006, 09:58
With the exception of the two shorted mags, everything has been sent out as of last night.

Ty, you are the MAN. Mine arrived today. It'll be a week or three before I can run them through, but damn if they aren't solid little suckers. The Wolff spring feels much more solid during loading. I can't wait to use these things and finally keep the 1911 as a nightstand wep.

Thanks again Ty!!!

Hey hey....Ken..The first one! Glad you liked it. Yes, I agree, those are pretty solid. Try holding 22 of them and you can really feel the mass. :)

So when am I coming by for my beer(s)? :) j/k

For some reason...the Dwight Yoakam songs keeps popping in my head.

Ty,

The mags arrived today in great shape and look ready to go. A million thanks once again.

Leaving this subject for a minute, I am still baffled as to why there is more potential for a reloading component group buy than a full-on ammo group buy. Not to sound like a broken record (from my previous thread), but if there's one thing all of the members use on a regular basis - it's ammo. I could be missing something here but it seems as though this forum's membership should be able to throw enough weight around to make some ammunition company take notice.

Mine came today and look great...can't wait to try them out. Ty, I've never seen anything packed so good--I believe you could have shipped raw eggs and they would've make it unscratched (of course, they would have "cooked" in this 105 degree Texas heat)!

Mmmm, beer. Anytime Ty, anytime :D

Funny, I have yet to hear "Streets" but have "100mi From Nowhere" glued to my brain of late. I guess I need to give a listen. heh

Thanks again Ty!

Ty,

I got mine today. You went above and beyond! Great packing, fast shipping! I also really like that the 4 I ordered with rubber bases were seperately packed and marked!

My mags look great, and they actually drop free and lock the slide back!

HUGE +1 for Ty and Metalform!

Thanks again guys. It was my pleasure.

Pinot_guy....an ammo (the issue itself) buy wouldn't be an issue for me, but not everyone has an understanding UPS counter. We're also dealing with more weight and costly shipping. Unlike bullets themselves which can go in a flat rate USPS box.

Candiru...I'm up there often...at least twice a year. I use to stay at the Hilton in Renton, but now that they switch owners...I'm at the Hilton by the airport. My g/f will hit the Nordstroms in Bellevue for their semi annual sale. As for me...do you know how much beef jerky I can get for 100 bucks at the Oberto outlets. :)

Ty, I received mine yesterday and they look great. You packaged them very well. Now all I have to do is convince my wife that I need more 1911's to go with all the magazines I've got. Again Thank you very much for doing this.

Yes, they opened it and even cut the bubble wrap to inspect them. Yes I paid 13% tax and $4.00 "handling" fees. That was fast though, I'm still waiting for a package from Slick 2000 that was ordred 3 weeks ago.
Thanks again and if you start a group buy for Kim Pro Mags count me in. ;)

Ty,
Thank You. Great Packing Job! I am sure that didn't take 2 minutes...

The Elite Mags and 10 rounders look of a nice quality. I am working like a dog for the next 2 weeks, so I doubt I will be able to test them out.

I will wait to hear about the other 2 mags that the company owes us / me.

Thank You Again..

BTW - for those interested - Dicks Sporting goods has a sale on Ammo. .45 in a case (500 rounds) is $ 99.80. Remmington UMC green / White Box. I head this may be dirty ammo, but it's the same price I paid for Geco ammo 15 years ago.

Ty - I must have a bad Elite Mag. Will only fit 7 rounds. All the others fit 8 as they should. Maybe the factory can ship me 3 (2 for what they owe me) and pick up the one tha fits only 7. Let me know what they tell you.

The other mags appear to work great! Thanks Again.

I'll make note of that also when they reopen on Monday.

One of the 4 mags I got also only loads 7 instead of 8. Not the Elites, but still. And it was hard getting that 7th one in also.

I think they rushed this in anticipation of getting all their orders out before they closed.

eta: She just called me. Her estimate is by the end of the week. She's going to just replace our defective mags....No need to send it back. WooHoo! What service.

I told her that since I'm getting some inquiries...I may do this again in a couple of months.

Hi TY,

My 2 Elites (8 rounds) won't go in the pistol (Colt 80 MKIV) with 8 rounds in. Perhaps they will go in with only 7 rounds.

Sorry could not tell you before!

lpspinner
2nd August 2006, 09:50
Hi Ok..... So do they fit with 7 rounds? Can you feed 8 rounds into the mags? Are these reloads you're using or store bought ammo? If they are reloads, what's the OAL? Just need a little more info before I ask her.

okcorral1881
2nd August 2006, 11:12
Hi Ty,

I have tried Winchester Win-Clean and Umc Remington which work perfectly in all my Colt clips.(I don't shoot reloads) The eighth round is very hard to put in and once it is in, it points upwards.(the bullets are very tight, no play at all when you push down on bullets) When I try to insert the clip in the gun, the clip stops at about 1/2 inch from a full insertion and jams there.
Is it possible that it is a 8 rounds body with a 7 rounds spring.
When I put 7 rounds in, the clip can be inserted in the gun normally.

Thanks and sorry again for your trouble.

Ty - Here is the news. I received 3 mags today. Did not go to the range, but loaded them. All 3 took 8 rounds (Thank You), but the one Mag binds up once the rounds are taken out. We get to round 6 and the follower is stuck (with 2 round remaining). Got to say, I am not real impressed with the quality control of Metalform at this time. I user 230Grain White Box Winchester and Green/White UMS FMJ - same results...

Can you ask metalform to ship me a DEMO mag that works, there is no reason to send out a NEW mag that doesn't work. If they include a label, I can return the defective mags. Don't fell I can trust them fot anything but range use. The Novaks might be the winner here. Have not had a bad one yet.

Thank You and I appreciate your work and their efforts. At least they have tried to fix the problems quickly.

Thanks.

Ty -
Now that I calmed down - it's been a bummer week. I "believe" the problem is the follower (75% sure). It doesn't seem to slide up and down the mag by itself. My quess is if the company sends out a new follower (That they tested) the problem "should" go away. (I hope).
Thanks,

Just as an update. I have used the elite mags TWICE. 3 of them fail to keep the slide open - when at first they did. I kept them loaded overnight before my range run. I thought these had the Wolff springs.. If 12 hours loaded does this to them, them they are not worth the $ they cost.

Anyone else have problems ?? Or is it just me ?? Also one of the 10 rounders has started with the same results...

They all worked for one range trip!!

jeff1124
30th August 2006, 18:24
I had mine (7 round, with the Wolff springs) at the range only once but ran several loads through each of them and they worked fine. I'll post again if I encounter any problems.

And I was looking at getting some Elites the next time.

I had the cheapies with the Wolff springs and I had one that wouldn't load 8, she replaced that and that was fine, then i noticed one were the weld was failing and she replaced that, but now the replacement won't load 8. I've been shooting steel almost every weekend, so I run each of the mags thru.
