I have a 1911 (mfr 1914) that is 75% or better in finish, but someone years ago bobbed the hammer. Is a correct style replacement hammer readily available out there?

There is a hammer that is close, available from Brownells.

The finish probably won't match very well, but it's the correct shape. You might try hitting some gun shows, or even ebay, for an original.
I don't have any references handy, but very early M1911s had a short-spur hammer; since yours was bobbed, it probably had the later, long spur.

Sarco Inc. has one as well, for $11.00 (part number C45054). I'm sure it's MIM rather than tool steel like the Brownells unit, but it's an alternate depending on your needs and your pocketbook.

Could be first type (short) or second type (long with sharp edge) depending on the serial number.

Kings Gun Works markets (makes ?) a wide spur (not MIM) 1911 hammer. Run a 'google' on Kings and give them a call.

Doc...... An original would not be that hard to find.....but as Doran has stated.... your serial number is essential.

Thanks all. Found what I needed, and getting the "right" hammer is in the works. ;)

I've got the Brownells' EMc Wide Spur in my GI Repro with an EGW hardened sear, and it looks and feels great.
Very Crisp combination.
