I have a 1911-A1 given to me by my brother after he retired from the
Army. The pistol is a rebuild and fine tuned by the AMU at Fort Benning ,GA as a competition pistol. Any thoughts as to value?

Recently at a firearms auction a Colt .38 AMU built to Fort Benning specs sold for $2100, however it was said to be one from a small shipment and the serial range was in the 157xxx to the best of my recollection. Prior to this one selling this winter, I had not seen one in 8 or 9 years, and it was at the Orlando Fair Grounds Gun Show, it too was a .38 AMU that had some documentation placing it at Ft. Sam Houston at some point. As with any of the match pistols I observed condition, correctness, and documentation play a big role in what the potentially sell for.
