1911

I purchased these two 1911A1's from a neighbor. A 1943 Ithaca and a 1944 Remington. Both have all original parts, including the magazines. I paid $900 for both of them. Last week at a gun show I seen an Ithaca not as nice as mine sell for $1475. I guess I did good.

Hope the pictures came out, not sure if I am doing it right.

You did good even if both were USGI mixmasters. Look forward to seeing some pictures. If you have not done so yet, check out www.coolgunsite.com 1911 ID pages and checkout the specific features of each model to verify what you have. You can also obtain a copy of Clawson's collector's gude through that site also. Congratulations!

Man... like the others have said... you did beyond good, you did great, you got a real steal!!! Having got me a WWI Colt USGI 1911 first of the year, for $995... which turned out to be in excellent shape, and all original parts as well, other than some of those coming from an Augusta Armory refurbish, and original finish... I was and still am thankful. My God, sir, although I love the 1911 original, to have an Ithaca and a Remington Rand 1911A1 in original shape for $900??? WoWoWoW!!! DO check out coolgunsite.com, suggested by exitwounds, Joe: it is FILLED with information on the original USGI 1911s and 1911A1s. If you haven't figured out how to post your pics, look at this:

On Photobucket, you post your photo, then, cut and paste the "IMG" code here on the message. Works beautifully.

Enjoy those two BEAUTIES, Joe. Clean 'em, lube 'em, and preserve 'em. If you want to shoot them, have qualified gunsmith check 'em out, and if they "pass muster" (as my 1911 has), shoot them occasionally followed by a good cleaning and lubing. If you're new to the platform, man, on John's site, you can find more information on the care and maintenance of this platform than you can shake a stick at... Thanks to the main site, and my frequent handling of my 3 and my dad's, I've learned SO MUCH about these beauties--whether vintage like yours and one of mine, or new. Man you did great on these two.

Y'all all take care and be safe.
Mick
