Has anyone fired one of these ? Just wondering what kind of performance it would have. http://www.charlesdaly.com/html/products/firearms/pistols/dalyhp/dalyhp.asp

Interesting that you posted this. I haven't fired one, but saw a used one in a local gun store just yesterday. The asking price was about what your web link shows is the price of a new one! I thought it was pretty high for a used gun, especially having never seen a Charles Daly HP replica before, and had no idea what a new one would run. I thought it was an FN when I first saw it.

I have a CD Hi power,,
had some issues, returned it to CD for service,
works like a champ,
I bought it the day I was shopping for an FN,,the fit, finish, overall condition compared to an FN,,for 100 less..
decided to risk it,
It is comparable to the T series I have in overall quality..
very accureate. tight, feeds everything I have tried so far.
cant say much more.

Does anyone know who actually makes them for Charles Daly?

The frames and slides were originally made by Dan Wesson here in the USA...Connecticut I believe. Dince CZ bought DW, I read that Magnum Research in MN is now making the frames and slides. The innards are made by FEG in Hungary. Haven't seen one up close and personal, maybe there will be one at the gunshow in Raleigh this weekend I can check out. Think I'd stick with an FN or Browning myself.

I looked at two of the Charles Daly HPs at the gun show today. Wasn't impressed. Asking price at two different tables was $329.95 so I guess that's the going rate. I believe I'd spring for the FN at $100+ more, but that's just my opinion.

the sights are excellent, they are XS sights, line up very easily..like the bigger white dot..
so much so, I bought a set with the trijicon front sight and had them installed on my MKIII,
the service from XS sights was beyound reproach.
if it didnt take milling the slide, I would install them on my T-series as well..

I finally got to see one at a local shop. It seemed pretty nice, the clerk said that it was entirely made and assembled in the U.S. (not too common for Charles Daly), it had, I forgot what city but, PA (Pennsylvania), USA stamped on it somewhere. He also said the the FN is Belgian parts but assembled in Brazil? I don't know if any of that is true but I kinda like those sights b/c they seemed like good combat sights. The ones on the FN that I saw for 200+ more were maybe better for target shooting. There was also an FN version that had some new SFS safety (forward decocker? thing. Must be some kind of European police/military requirement that didn't make sense to me and probably wouldn't be able to get used too.) Anyway, I don't know much about the HP but they do seem to be pretty nice and have an interesting history. I like the design I like european guns, I love the CZs I don't own one but have a Baby Eagle .45, and a CZ .22 hornet and .223 rifle. ........Umm, I am not familiar w/ the phrase, "beyond reproach"; I take it that as a positive, no?...... I have heard good and bad of Ashley, I think they are a different company or at least the ones that makes sights that fit Marlin lever actions? Ashley Outdoors or something?

3006 MV, I have had it only a week and have only put 150 rnds down range. It reminds me, naturally, of my old FEG PJK, groups better however, 1" to 1.5" at 10 yrds. Had to adjust the sight, it was shooting about 3" left of POA, nudged the rear sight and I am comfortable with it out to about 20 yards. I'm intending to use this for my range/practice pistol. School is still out on the sights until I have more time with the gun.
I am pleased with the fit and finish, 3-4 star. It's a work in progress as I am. It seems to be a good range/practice SA HP clone, good value for the buck$.

Good shooting

The FN Hi-Powers are now being assembled in Portugal.

Personally I would stick with FN either stamped FN or Browning (same company).
