What do you guys think? I will be buying reloading equipment soon to load for practice and IDPA. Look for info from the 1911 guru's here.

Keep in mind that the 1911 was designed to shoot round nosed bullets and that is what they do best. Most 1911's can be modified to shoot hollow point or semi-wadcutter bullets reliably. Most newer 1911's will shoot such right out of the box. Odds are, your XSE will shoot semi-wadcutters just fine. You may need to play with the overall length of the cartridges to get reliable feeding. I usually load semi-wadcutters so that there is only about 0.030" of the driving band visible above the case mouth. This translates to an overall length of about 1.235" with a bullet that follows the H&G #68 profile. Beware, not all 45 ACP semi-wadcutters follow the traditional H&G #68 profile. Case in point: Berry's plated semi-wadcutters have a much longer driving band and a very short and blunt nose. These end up being seated to a much shorter overall length.
