Barrel Bushing Fit

I did a search and couldn't find my answer, so I will ask. How tight should a barrel bushing fit to the barrel. I ordered a EGW drop-in bushing and it measures .580 I.D. and my barrel measured 0.5784. I had to hand fit it into the slide. I hand sanded it with 600 wet/dry sandpaper till it barely fit into the slide and finished fitting with valve grinding compound. It fits snugly in the slide now, but was wondering if the barrel fit was tight enough.

I have heard that bushing to barrel fit should be around .002" to .0025" per side.

Then it sounds like I am good to go. If anyone else thinks different, let me know.

All mine are fitted at .001" clearance from the barrel to the bushing, and another .001" from the bushing to the slide.
