Can't remove Ambi-Safety need help please

I am trying to take apart my Trophy Match, but I am unable to get the ambi-safety off. I know how to do it with the single side safety, but my ambi doesn't seem to want to come off. I tried grabbing the two tang where the thumb would go and pull the thing apart, but it does want to move. So can someone explain to me what I am doing wrong?

The two Colts I have with ambi safetys the grip panel on the right side must come off in order to get the right side of the safety off. The two sides merge through the frame at the pin that holds the grip safety on. Being new it might take a little patience to get the safety off.

I don't have the grip on. So if I understand correctly I just pull the two side apart right?

I do believe. The one on my newest Colt was tight to come off even with both grips off and CLP sprayed on.

It may be the type that is held on with the hammer pin?

Does the right side have an arm that goes under the grip panel?
If not, then take off the left side first, then rotate the right side up and it will come off.

I got it apart after using a giant pair of pliers. That thing is on tight! Thanks for the help!
