I'm new to the 1911 world, and searched the forums and researched with no avail. Hopefully you experienced people can help me.

Noticed 4 dents total on the frame rails. Doesn't affect frame movement, but wanted to know what caused this, and if any malfunctions/problems may arise later on. Sorry for the bad pics. Thanks. Kimber Eclipse Ultra II

SrA Kim,
That should not be happening. Scooter, you or Tuner jump right in!

some one wasnt very careful when the restaked the plunger tube.In the pic's it looks like the tubes pins are shiny like a recent tightening attempt was made and they banged it up a little with tools or a vise maybe.?
If its not dragging on the slide I probably would leave it alone,if it is dragging just dress it with a fine file and then smooth it up with finer and finer sandpaper.Oh and dont go near a dremel till your finished!!http://forum.m1911.org/images/icons/icon10.gifhttp://forum.m1911.org/images/icons/icon15.gif

As long as it doesn't get worse and doesn't interfere with slide travel, it won't hurt anything. Can't figure what caused it, but highly unlikely that normal cycling of the gun had anything to do with it.

Going to expose my ignorance for a moment:

What is that little nub next to the disconnect?

The Swartz safety part, me thinks.

Swartz safety? Is that like the Series 80 safety?

It was on both sides, so I'm guessing it was probably a vise rather that a tool "if" the previous owner was messin with the plunger. And I'm pretty sure normal cycling didn't do that or I'd be pretty upset! It doesn't interfere with the gun, and I guess I'll keep a close eye on it. Thanks for the replies.

Its activated by the grip safety instead of the triggerhttp://forum.m1911.org/images/icons/icon16.gif
