Since I use my 1911 for carry and gaming purposes I thought it would be appropriate to install a magwell on the gun. I went with the Wilson Combat EZ Loader magwell. It's not permanent and not attached to the mainspring housing like the S&A magwells. I can take it off whenever I want to. This is just a temporary mod. I am having my beavertail tangs welded up and an Ed Brown safety installed at EGW when my number is called. At that time I'm going to get an Ed Brown snakeskin MSH/magwell installed and getting it blended.

On with the show. The finish was originally blue. I polished it off.

I didn't do a formal blend to smoothen the transition from magwell to frame. I just broke the edge of the magwell so the mags won't hang up on it.

The magwell just slips over the frame.

Since the grips won't sit flush as-is, you have to relieve the inside of the grip panels to fit over the magwell tabs.
