I'm looking for a solution to a nasty case of hammer bite and rather than start grinding at my GI hammer, I'd like to replace it and my grip safety. Does anyone have experience with the SARCO grip safety (part number C45079 (http://www.sarcoinc.com/images/grpsfty-blk.jpg) ) or their custom hammer (part number C45147 (http://www.sarcoinc.com/images/c45147.jpg))? There are alot of other parts I'd like to swap, so any firsthand experience with SARCO parts would be appreciated.

I have one of those hammers. I haven't installed it, and here's why:
The kit-built "Frankengun" I put together last year looked rather strange, with a light rail frame, a contemporary slide, and a GI hammer and grip safety. So I updated using a Wilson drop-in beavertail and a McCormick hammer and sear. After I installed the hammer and sear, the hammer would jam if released at the half-cock position. This had never happened with the original Sarco GI hammer.
I was pretty certain the hammer was at fault, and I was so far over my budget that I thought the Sarco hammer might be a solution. Once I got it, I found that it is IDENTICAL to the McCormick hammer that caused my problem. Absolutely identical. So I put it away and bought a matched Wilson hammer and sear, which resolved the problem.
It's unlikely that a McCormick hammer would cause this problem in every pistol or he wouldn't be selling them. In my case, it's probably a fluke, a result of what Tuner calls tolerance stacking. I have no proof, but I am convinced that the Sarco hammer you showed IS a McCormick hammer. It is MIM, it's not bar stock, but for the price you probably can't go wrong with it.

I have this safety too. I bought it at the same time I bought my Norinco. I had clearance issues with the stock hammer, so I filed the saftey a little, and had no further problems. Had that on the gun for almost 9 years. I just recently upgraded to a Wilson beavertail and a Colt commander style hammer.
