Can someone please tell me what is meant by the term "Clocking Brass"?

Howdy former neighbor! (Moved from the King/Rural Hall area last year. Still buy my tires at Clyde Fulk's and stop at Dairy-O for a foot-long and a coke whenever I'm back in the area...which is pretty often.)
"Clocking" is in reference to the extractor...not the brass. The simple explanation is that the extractor rotates in its bore, usually dropping the
last case off the breechface, pushing the mag follower down far enough to prevent slidelock...and resulting in the case getting crushed between slide and barrel hood.

Thanks 1911 Tuner, I guess my Kimber problem is something else. Kimber installed a short trigger (back once already) and on the second trip, replaced and adjusted a (new) ejector. Now every once and too often, the last empty casing gets ejected with big dents on the empty casing mouth - two big dents opposite each other almost closing the casing mouth. Sometimes, this casing ends up just sitting on top of the empty magazine with the slide locked back. It's an Eclipse Pro II (external extractor). I am about ready to relegate it to the safe (who would want to buy a Kimber EE?), except The Wife is looking at it as a possible upgrade from her CHP carry piece - a Ruger Sp-101, 3 inch, .357 Magnum. Maybe Wayne Novak could rebuild it. Thanks anyway. The Wife says, "Come see Us."

It's still an extractor problem. Even with an external...you can still have a dropped case, usually on the last round. Low tension can cause it. The hook itself may be too far starboard of the breechface centerline.
Kelie says ya'll come see us! Seriously..If you can make the drive, I'll take a look and see if it's tweakable, or needs a new extractor and spring. Kimber has had mucho trouble with their external extractors recently. Say when and I'll send directions.
