my fren just built me a .45cal with the short block frame with bull barrel. now i planned to convert it to .40, what components should i change, is the short block sti 45 compatible with cal .40? thanks :geek: guys

Sorry, but I have never heard of the term "short block" for anything but car engines. In any case, a frame has not much to do with caliber, unless of course we are talking about something really strange, like the .50 GI.

If the ejector will allow a .40 slide, then I think a .40 slide, barrel and link, and magazine. You may still use the frame. But check with the dealer and the FED concerning license issues.

In the Philippines, one gun once licensed cannot be changed its major parts such as the barrel, breach and frame which are the parts that mark shells for ballistics/forensics purposes of the FED.

If a change is to be effected, you may need to have your gun fired at the FED for ballistics sampling (3 slugs and shells).

I even heard from FED sources that a separate (extra) barrel for your 1911 may require a separate license. Or you might be required to register the 2nd barrel under your original gun's license.
