Need to know how to find gi hammer and sight

I have a 1918 mfg Colt gi 1911 When I brought this one it had an Remington UMC slide and in parkerized dark grey and the hammer end was filed short . It was done by Augusta Arsenal work (AA stamped). I would like to know how can I find a correct genuine gi hammer for this pistol and a front sight for ww 1 period. I recently got a correct ww 1 Colt slide but is missing the front sight and is in different parkerized color (green) how do I find the right parkerize paint of WW 2 period for Colt made or dark grey like the frame. Fyi I wanna make this pure Colt pistol meaning I dont want to take the sight out of Remington UMC. I want to leave the slide alone. Not an aftermarket items or not Colt parts. P.S. I am new to the Forum 1911.org and I love the model 1911s

You should take your pistol to a few gun shows to find parts that match colorwise. Make sure the hammer was actually filed because some hammers are short by design. You may be able to trade an original short hammer for the one you need.

You will have to fabricate a front sight if you want to use your Colt slide. A loose original front sight is worth more than your Colt slide without a front sight and you might search years to find one. I recommend finding a slide that already has the sights and color you need. Your UMC slide is more desireable and could be traded.

Or you could leave it alone, if it is an original AA rework. A genuine AA rework pistol is an actual military pistol, has historical significance and is worth more than something built up out of various parts. You could very easily trade an original AA rework for a WWI parts gun.

Try Amherst-depot.com. The have lots of excellent quality surplus GI parts. I have bought from them at gun shows in S. Florida and they are orig. GI.
