new beavertail problems

i just installed a new beavertail grip saftey and now it doesn't work, the hammer drops when i pull the trigger even though i don't have the grip saftey engaged. anyone have any suggestions? its a SA WWII and i've also installed a new match trigger and nowlin skeletonized hammer. any input would be very helpful, i don't want any accidental discharges

There is an arm on the beaver tail that is supposed to sit behind the trigger keeping it from moving backwards. They usually come a little longer than needed so it can be fit to the gun. If you take off the grips you should be able to see inside the frame and tell whats going on. If you havnt done any fitting of the beaver tail arm chances are its to long and just resting on top of the trigger bow. Does the beaver tail feel like it doesnt move in and out of the frame as much as it should?

yes that is exactly what i think, the beavertail hardly moves! so i should be able to look inside and see how much and where to trim? thanks for the input

Yeah, if you take the grips off you should be able to see inside where the grip safety arm is. What you will need to do is take a look and get an idea of how much material needs to come off the arm. Then take the safety out and remove material slowly checking frequently for fit.

Let us know how its goes.

One possibility is that the Main Spring Housing is not allowing the grip safety to come out as far as it should. If that is the case, you could file a little off the MSH (go gently and don't remove too much).

When I installed my Beavertail Grip Safety, I had to remove material from the bottom outside edges of the safety to eliminate interference with the frame cutout. Make sure that the safety swings freely in and out of the frame when the mainspring housing is down and away from the safety.
