Leif here is the Norinco Barrel picture I promised. You can see the link is missing. Broke in half in the center of the ring where your slide stop goes throough. Dlask kept the broken part attached to the barrel and I lost the other piece.

My Norinco A1 now has:

Dlask Match Grade Barrel & Bushing (fitted)
Smith alexander Beavertail
Cylinder & Slide Hammer & Sear
Dlask Long Trigger
Two piece Guide Rod
Checkered FMSH (Joe just flattened the Norinco housing and checkered it 30 lpi
Gun has a 4# trigger pull with no creep
Mags used are McCormick Power Mags
Heinie Rear Sight
Heinie Front Night Sight

Norinco parts:

Frame
FMSH
Slide
Slide Stop
Safety

Total costs including gun Aprox. $1,150 Cdn. This isn't to bad to have a fully custom gun shooting 1" groups at 25 metres. Yet to do, complete dehorning, bead blasting and reblueing. This will wait until I get more wear on existing blueing.

Gun sits in a Horseshoe Leather 22H Holster.

Anyone wanting the barrel gets it for free + postage. Just send me a PM.

ps. Sold my Norinco NP 29 9MM - saving up for a SIG 226 for IPSC PRoduction

Hi Bob,
Just as I feared when you mentioned this on the horn. My link is pretty much grinded on, the hole is oversized since the fitting mentioned earlier. I've been concerned about the remaining material, link looking very thin. I'll try and post a pic, but my camera is not really goood for close-ups. Nice gun BTW. One inch at 25 metres?! That's one hole. Really impressive.

I bet you’re glad to have it back now Bob.

Leif, I can feel your pain. I hope you’re able to have it fixed.

Hi Leif

I didn't notice any damage to the link until it broke. Seems like if the barrel is not fitted properly the link takes all the recoil and eventually cracks across it's weakest point which, on mine was the hole in the link where the slide stop goes through.

You might want to have a 'smith check it out. My barrel was cut so out of spec Dlask could did not have a barrel link long enough to make it work. I think the 'smith there told me they had five different sizes of links and none were satisfactory.

There was no other indication of wear on the gun. Actually now that I bought the bullet and replaced the barrel I am more than pleased. I have another A1 that I left completely stock and I intend to continue to shoot it and use it for my .45-08 loads with the stronger recoil spring.

Probably fair to say my experience is the exception not the norm. Incidently I am actually getting used to the original sights on my Norinco. Scary eh!

And I should add a belated congratulations for winning the Olympic Gold Medal in hockey - this country has completed the mandatory 30 days of mourning...my Edmonton Oilers are in a fight for a play-off spot, if they don't get in life will not be the same for at least a week. LOL

Hi Bob,
The smith that fixed up my Nork enlarged the lower hole in the link. I've been a bit concerned about how it looks, but when you mentioned that it came out of the blue, I'll just keep on shooting. Tomorrow I'll only help out at a black powder field shooting, though. My club arranges this once a year. Thanks for the congrats. Don't remember if I mentioned that, but during my stay in B.C. I met a lot of nice people. All very becoming, polite and friendly; however, each and every one of them couldn't help mentioning the Olympic Hockey result. A true national religion, I believe. My team, Frolunda, made national final yesterday, in the seventh semi match.
What is a 45-08? Is that 45 Super?

Leif send me a PM with your email address again and I'll send you the details.

Good luck with your team in the finals. The Oilers have a way to go yet, play Chicago tonite and could use the 2 points. Nasland & Co with the Vancouver Canucks are in deep do do right now. Don't care for their team and they may not make the playoffs. You can listen to the Oiler game by googleing: ched radio and go to their website. Game tonite should start around 7:00 Central Dailight Time.
